On April 28, 2026, at 4:30 PM, the “Enrico Fermi” Historical Museum of Physics and Study and Research Center will host an encounter with David Schwartz, author of the acclaimed biography of Enrico Fermi, The Last Man Who Knew Everything.
During the talk, David Schwartz will share his personal experience as the biographer of one of the 20th century’s most brilliant minds. He will recount the journey from his initial decision to embark on this adventure to the book’s eventual publication: the weight of responsibility, the moral obligation to do justice to such a monumental figure, and the strange, unexpected experiences encountered during his investigative research. Schwartz will also explore how this total immersion into Fermi’s life shaped and transformed his perspective on writing and on life itself.
The event—held in English without translation—offers a unique opportunity to deepen your understanding of Fermi from a fresh angle. It also serves as a masterclass on the complex art of historical research, source management, and biographical narrative. The talk will be followed by a Q&A session, allowing the audience to engage directly with the author.
The meeting will be moderated by Professor Gianni Battimelli.
