On April 28, 2026, at 4:30 PM, the Historical Museum of Physics and Study and Research Centre “Enrico Fermi” will host an event with David Schwartz, author of the acclaimed biography of Enrico Fermi, The Last Man Who Knew Everything.
During the talk, David Schwartz will share his personal experience as the biographer of one of the twentieth century’s most brilliant minds. He will discuss the journey from the moment he decided to embark on this adventure up to the publication of the book, detailing the weight of responsibility and the moral obligation to write a biography worthy of such a monumental figure. He will also recount the strange and unexpected experiences he encountered during his investigative work and source research, and how being so fully immersed in the life of Enrico Fermi has shaped and transformed his perspective on writing and, more generally, on life.
The event, held in English without translation, represents a unique opportunity not only to delve into the figure of Fermi from a novel angle but also to participate in a true masterclass on the complex art of historical research, source management, and biographical storytelling.
Following the presentation, there will be a Q&A session where the audience can interact directly with the author.
The event will be moderated by Professor Gianni Battimelli.
