For the 2024 edition of our Open Conferences, the Enrico Fermi Research Center proposes a cycle of events entitled “Manhattan Project. A story with many voices”.
Throughout four appointments, from January to May, we will unfold the human and ethical implications of the Manhattan Project, relying on the voices of exceptional witnesses, who can give us a perspective on the events that is all the more interesting as it is less official and celebrated.
Simona Cerrato (Physicist, Writer, Science Communicator – ECSA, Berlin) will tell us the story of Lise Meitner, the scientist who was the first to provide the scientific explanation of fission. Passionate, brilliant and determined, Meitner experienced both recognition and humiliation in her life, suffering marginalization as a woman and as a Jew.
