with Paola Govoni
Laura Fermi, Atoms in the family, Mondadori
For the 2024 edition of our Open Conferences, the Enrico Fermi Research Center proposes a cycle of events entitled “Manhattan Project. A story with many voices”.
Throughout four appointments, from January to May, we will unfold the human and ethical implications of the Manhattan Project, relying on the voices of exceptional witnesses, who can give us a perspective on the events that is all the more interesting as it is less official and celebrated.
Paola Govoni (Historian of Science, University of Bologna) will examine the figure of Laura Capon. Scientific communicator and life partner of Enrico Fermi, in her book “Atoms in the Family, ” Laura was able to depict an ironic and lucid portrait of her husband, along with a historical era of changes and decisions.
